Large File Support, Character Restrictions, and File/Folder Names

The world of collaboration has changed, text-based files are shifting to modern media, videos, audio, and more.  SharePoint Server 2019 Preview provides support for uploading files up to 15GB.

Files are as unique as the people who create them.  SharePoint Server 2019 delivers support for a broad array of types and naming conventions to include support for # and % as supported characters in file and folder names across document libraries in SharePoint and OneDrive for Business.  This will allow people to create, store, and sync files containing # and % characters whether those characters are used as a prefix or suffix to the file or folder name.

In addition, SharePoint Server 2019 increases the URL path length restrictions from 260 Unicode code units to 400.

I was preparing a risk matrix table for one of my projects and thought it is worth sharing it here. " A Risk Assessment Matrix is a project management tool that allows a quick view of the probable risks evaluated in terms of the likelihood or probability of the risk and the severity of the consequences. " . Let us build the below table. Once you have the page ready, you can calculate the resultant risk by passing the likelihood and the severity to the page using query-strings. Came across Kendo UI components in one of the projects. Kendo UI Grid (paid!) is one of the amazing html components from Kendo with excellent features like filtering, sorting, grouping, re-arranging, paging etc. Problem I recently came across a requirement where I had to pull data from MSSQL server and display it on a kendo grid. But it was about pulling thousands of records to the grid, which would slow down the app for the first time, but I did not want that to happen. So thought of implementing kendo Server paging which is readily available with Kendo Grid. But since I use Kendo UI core pure JavaScript framework and not the kendo wrapper for asp.net mvc etc, paging, filtering and sorting need to be handled manually by the developer. Sharepoint- Using an Image From formatmap32x32.png in a Ribbon Control

As you know in SharePoint , ribbon button images are coming from a built in image called formatmap32x32.png and formatmap16x16.png which are located at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033\IMAGES So if you are creating custom ribbon buttons, and if you want to use one of the built in button image, then how would you set Image32by32Top and Image32by32Left ? Here is the answer. Get the image from from the above path. Choose the icon image which you would like yo use. As shown below, say the icon which chose is a pie chart as marked with black outline. Count its position from top. its 7. also count its position from left, its 8.  Since the image is 32*32, you would calculate as left=32*8= 256 and Top=224.
